Hama bead patterns with the right colors

This Hama bead pattern maker matches every bead to the nearest Hama color using a perceptual color-difference formula, so you get a pattern you can build straight from your Hama tubs. Choose a Hama starter set under Colors I have, or tick off the colors you own under My colors, to limit the pattern to beads you already have.

Hama Midi and Hama Maxi patterns

Hama Midi beads are 5mm, the same size as Perler and Artkal S, and fit the standard square pegboard of 29×29 pegs. Hama Maxi beads are 10mm, so a Maxi pattern comes out twice as big with the same number of beads. Switch the brand between Hama Midi and Hama Maxi and the finished size, pegboard count and color numbers update right away.

From picture to Hama beads in four steps

  1. Upload a photo, drawing or pixel art. Pixel art is snapped to its own grid, one bead per pixel.
  2. Pick Hama Midi or Maxi and set the width in beads.
  3. Fix anything by hand: paint, erase, swap a color or remove the background with the magic wand.
  4. Download the printable chart and the shopping list with Hama color numbers.

Browse every color in the Hama Midi color chart and the Hama Maxi color chart, or start from one of our free bead patterns.

Hama bead pattern FAQ

Does the Hama bead pattern maker use real Hama color numbers?+

Yes. Patterns use the official Hama Midi (5mm) or Hama Maxi (10mm) color numbers, so you can buy refill bags by number.

Hama Midi or Maxi beads?+

Midi (5mm) is the standard size and has the widest color range. Maxi (10mm) beads are twice as big and great for small children, but come in fewer colors.

Can I use Hama beads with Perler patterns?+

Yes, both are 5mm and fit the same pegboards. Colors differ slightly, so select Hama Midi as the brand to get the closest Hama colors.
