Tips for halloween Perler bead projects
Most of these Halloween perler bead patterns are small enough to finish in one sitting. The 9×11 Candy Corn is the quickest, and the two-color Skull is a good warm-up if you have never made a pattern before. At the other end, the Haunted House fills a full 29×29 large square pegboard and uses nine colors, so save it for a weekend or a display piece for the mantel.
Plan your bead supply before you start a batch. Black and orange disappear first in October, because nearly every design here leans on them: the Black Cat and Bat are almost entirely black, and the Jack-o'-Lantern eats through orange. If your jar is low, buy those two colors in bulk. Glow-in-the-dark beads are also sold by most bead brands and work well for ghost bodies, skull faces or the moon in Bat and Full Moon. Open any pattern in the pattern maker to swap a color for one you actually own.
For decorations, start in late September so you have time to make a set. Ghosts, bats and the Mummy Face make good fridge magnets, and small pieces like the candy corn work as treat-bag tags or party favors if you iron a ribbon loop into the back. Larger pieces such as the Witch Cauldron or RIP Tombstone can be strung into a garland with fishing line.
Iron both sides when a piece will be handled a lot, like a keychain. Our ironing guide covers how to get a flat, even melt.
