Tips for sea animal Perler bead projects
Our sea animal perler bead patterns are mostly long and low, so they suit spaces where a tall design would not: the Clownfish is 19×11 and the Turtle is 22×11. That shape works well for bookmarks, magnets on a narrow fridge door or a row along a shelf.
Blues and oranges do the heavy lifting here. The Cute Whale leans on blue, and the Clownfish needs only three colors (orange, white and black), making it the quickest of the set. The Turtle uses seven colors for its shell pattern, so it takes more counting. The Axolotl is technically a freshwater amphibian rather than a sea creature, but it fits right in with an ocean set, and it looks great recolored in the pattern maker as a wild-type brown or a golden version instead of pink.
These make good summer projects and pool party favors. Iron a set of four as coasters with felt glued to the back, or make magnets for a beach-themed classroom. To get a cleaner look on a mostly-blue piece, pick one shade for the body and a second for shading rather than mixing several close blues.
